December 19, 2012

Chambers USA names firm as one of New York's three top-ranking media and entertainment firms working in film, music, television and theater a seventh time.

The 2012 edition of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Chambers USA, has named FWRV one of three top-ranking New York firms in the category of Media and Entertainment practice, covering film, music, television and theater. This is the seventh straight year that FWRV has been awarded this ranking.

Describing the firm as “excellent” and “superb,” Chambers said that FWRV “is recognized throughout the market for the quality and range of services it provides to clients in the industry.”   FWRV was also commended for having “expertise across the spectrum of film, television, music and theater issues,” and was said to be “widely sought after to advise on publishing, branded entertainment and digital media.”

Four of the firm’s partners were cited in particular as “leading individuals” in the Media and Entertainment category.

Michael Rudell, listed in the top tier of Media & Entertainment: Film & Television, “remains a luminary in the arena of publishing law as it relates to television and film, and acts on behalf of an impressive range of clients that includes Fortune 500 companies, startup ventures and celebrities.”

Elliot Brown was listed in the top tier of Theatre category.  Chambers noted that he “is held in high esteem for the wide-ranging nature of his practice…”  Elliot was particularly praised “for his work on Broadway productions.”

Nicholas Gordon, listed in the top tier of the Music category, “remains a go-to lawyer for music-related issues.”  His noted “areas of expertise range from recording rights, music publishing and songwriting, to management, licensing and distribution.”

Ken Weinrib was described as a “versatile performer, highly adept at handling transactions throughout the media and entertainment industry, from film and television to music and live theater.”  Chambers noted that Ken is “commonly called upon to advise on licensing and branded entertainment matters.”

According to Chambers, their rankings are determined through investigation of lawyers and law firms by interviews with key lawyers and clients, and the most important part of their research is feedback from clients.
