Brittany A. Berckes

Brittany’s work at the firm encompasses all areas of entertainment law including film, television, theater, book publishing, music and digital media law. Clients also benefit from her prior experience with corporate, securities and financing law and her pre-law school experience with media companies. 

Before coming to the firm, Brittany practiced corporate and finance law at Otterbourg P.C. Prior to that, she was a Legal Fellow at the Media Law Resource Center where she worked on media law issues. Previously, Brittany also completed internships at Jazz at Lincoln Center and the United States Tennis Association, working in their respective in-house legal departments on licensing, intellectual property and employment matters.

In law school, Brittany worked with Creative Rights, an organization that provides legal services to artists, arts organizations and entrepreneurs in the Detroit area. Prior to attending law school, she interned with production teams at media companies that include MSNBC, FOX News and the Columbia Journalism Review.

Brittany is a member of both the New York City Bar Association's Entertainment Law Committee and Fashion Law Committee and the Entertainment and Sports Law Section (EASL) of the New York State Bar Association.

Representative Work

  • Production counsel for theatrical films (including independent films, major studio films and documentaries) and scripted and non-scripted television productions.
  • Representing live stage theater producers in connection with the acquisition of underlying rights, and the financing and production of Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and dramatic plays.
  • Representing musicians and video artists in connection with the development and production of entertainment projects.
  • Representing executives in the entertainment industry in connection with employment agreements.
  • Representing fiction and non-fiction authors involved in publishing, films, documentaries and television agreements.
